Use Cases

Get Answers about Your Energy Use

  • What is my Total Electricity Demand ?
  • When am I using the Most Electricity ? - ie. What Months of the Year, what Days of the Week, what Hours of the Day, etc ...
  • Is there Unexpected Electricity Demand ? - eg. Mysteriously large usage in the Middle of the Night ?
  • How Much am I still importing from the Mains Grid despite my 5 kW Solar Power System ? (On Weekdays ? Overnight ? In Winter ? ...)
  • Is my Existing Solar Export enough to fill a 10 kWh Battery in Winter ?

Optimize your Energy Usage:

  • Optimize the Economic Benefits of Existing Solar Power (and Battery) Systems.
  • Optimize Solar Feed-in Tariff Earnings under Flexible Exports rules.
  • Right-Size Batteries to use up Existing Solar Export

Track & Record your Energy Usage:

  • Data Summaries in Tables & Charts
  • Save Chart Images
  • Print Charts/Tables (to PDF) ...
  • Save to Compare your Usage over time ...

These Summary Charts were produced using 30 Minute Interval Data obtained in "VECFORMAT" (closely derived from NEM12) from the Powercor MyEnergy Portal. (How to Download Data from the Powercor MyEnergy Portal ...)

Household with 3 Mains Import Registers (and No Solar Power)

This Domestic Household has 3 Meter Regisers:

  • Import E1 - Main/General Import (from the Mains Grid)
  • Import E2 - A Hot Water Service on a Controlled Load / Dedicated Circuit receiving a Special Import Tariff just for that Circuit
  • Import E3 - An Air-Conditioner on a Controlled Load / Dedicated Circuit receiving a Special "Climate Saver" Import Tariff just for that Circuit

Note that if this Householder installs a Solar Power (and Battery) System, * ONLY * the Electricity Demand on the Import E1 (Main/General Import) Meter Register can be supplied by Solar Power. (Import E2 and Import E3 * CANNOT * !!!) So an Ill-Informed Customer might experience Far Lower Savings from their Solar Power System than expected !!!

Daily Average for Each Month - Stepped Area Chart

If the Monthly Chart with 3 Meter Registers is too crowded and busy to read, NEM12 Smart Meter Data Analyzer can switch to a Stepped Area Chart.

Household with 1 Mains Import Register and Solar Export

This Domestic Household has 1 Meter Regisers:

  • Import E1 - Main/General Import (from the Mains Grid). All of the Import from the Mains Grid into this Connection are recorded on the Same Meter Register regardless of what Circuit - eg. an Electric Hot Water Service is recorded on the Single General E1 Circuit (although the Hot Water Service and any other Electric Appliances in the House might be charged a Different Peak, Off-Peak or (possibly) Shoulder Import Tariff Rate depending on the Time of Use (TOU)
  • Export B1 - Solar Generation that is in excess to Electricial Demand at the time of Generation that then flows back to the Mains Grid (and might receive a Solar Feed-in Tariff (FiT))

Note that if this Householder installs a Solar Power (and Battery) System, unlike the Householder (above) with 3 Meter Register recording Mains Import, * ALL* Electrical Appliances can be powered by the Solar Power System, because all of the Electricity Demand on the is on the Same/Single Meter Register E1.
